Subway Centennial Contest

The Subway Centennial Contest is closed as of Monday, Oct 27, 2003. Thank you to all the participants who submitted ideas. Winners will be announced Friday, Oct 31st.

The New York City subways will be 100 years old in October 2004. How should New York celebrate? Tell us your ideas!

The NYPIRG Straphangers Campaign and the Tri State Transportation Campaign want your ideas. We'll pick the 10 best, post them on our web sites, and forward them on to the MTA for consideration. Winners will get a free seven-day MetroCard. The MTA is currently considering a variety of events, ranging from re-enacting the first subway ride to running old cars in service to a party in City Hall Park.

All completed entries must be submitted to the NYPIRG Straphangers Campaign by 5:00 p.m., Monday, October 27th, 2003.

How do you think New York should celebrate the 100th anniversary of the subway? Submit your comments here:
