Select any poll from the list below to view its results

  • Current Poll (#20): Have you gotten on an un-air conditioned subway car or bus in the last week?
  • Poll #19: How clean would you say the subway seats and floors usually are on your commutes?
  • Poll #18: Station Customer Agents (SCA) are the maroon vested employees of the MTA that provide customer assistance to the public, services like: providing travel information to riders, assisting riders with fare purchases at MetroCard vending machines, as well as contacting the proper authorities in the case of an emergency.

Do you feel safer traveling on the subway with a station agent present?

  • Poll #17: Governor Paterson set up the Ravitch Commission to find new revenue streams to sustainably fund our transit system. This commission reported that our transit system can only be sustainably funded if all sectors of our economy pitched in to help fund it. These sectors include businesses, drivers and the riders. The plan lists the following solutions to funding our system.

    • 1/3 of a percent Payroll Tax in the 12-county downstate region
    • Tolls to be implemented on the East and Harlem River Bridges
    • an 8% yield fare increases

These solutions would benefit transit riders by:

    • halting a 25% yield fare increase
    • preventing proposed service cuts and bus route and train line eliminations
    • providing funding for better and increased bus service
    • allowing for the MTA continue improving and expanding our transit system

    • Poll #16: Mayor Michael Bloomberg has proposed that New York City adopt a system of "congestion pricing." Drivers would have to pay a charge to come into Manhattan's Central Business District during weekday rush-hours. The mayor says these charges will reduce traffic congestion and help pay for transit repairs. There would be a three year pilot project to see how the program works. What do you think?
    • Poll #15: In 2005, transit managers started a program of "station customer agents." These agents "rove" the station at scores of locations and are tasked with helping riders navigate the subways, rather than work inside a station booth. Do you think the program of "roving" station customer agents is:
    • Poll #14: Will you save money on fares because of the MTA's holiday discounts?
    • Poll #13: Which of the following measures on transit security do you view as the most effective use of police?
    • Poll #12: The MTA has proposed banning photography, filming and videotaping in the subways, citing security concerns. Under their proposal, the media and those authorized by transit officials would be able to take photos, film or video. Do you support or oppose a ban?
    • Poll #11: The MTA is considering wiring the subways to allow riders use of cell phones in subway stations and throughout the system. Do you support wiring the subways for cell phone use?
    • Poll #10: The MTA says it is facing an $815 million deficit for the city subway and bus system next year. It has proposed three options to close its gap:

      • MTA Option A: Cut service. Also raise fares 17%, with a: $1.75 base fare; $20 for a 7-day MetroCard; and $73 for a 30-day MetroCard
      • MTA Option B: No cuts in service and raise fares 33% but deeply discount the unlimited-ride MetroCards: $2.00 base fare, a 7-day MetroCard could cost anywhere between $18.50 - $20.50 and a 30-day MetroCard between $69 - $76.50.
      • MTA Option C: No cuts in service and raise fares 33% across the board: $2.00 base fare, $22 for a 7-day MetroCard and $84 for a 30-day MetroCard
What's your opinion about these options?
    • Poll #9: Mayor Bloomberg says the fare may go up and the city may cut support for the subway and bus system. What do you think about an increase of the fare to $2.00?
    • Poll #8: What is your biggest concern about bus service?
    • Poll #7: Elected officials are currently considering a proposal to place tolls on the East River bridges to reduce traffic congestion and to raise money for transportation and city services. Would you support tolling the Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg and Queensboro/59th Street Bridges?
    • Poll #6: How would you rate the bus route you take most regularly?
    • Poll #5: The Straphangers recently released a report rating the quality of payphones in the subway system. How would you rate subway payphone service?
    • Poll #4: Currently the Mayor has banned all non-commercial vehicles from entering Manhattan below 63rd Street during rush-hour weekdays unless they have at least two passengers. Do you think this carpooling requirement should be made permanent?
    • Poll #3: Where do you prefer buying your token or MetroCard?
    • Poll #2: The MTA is considering wiring the subways to allow riders use of cell phones in subway stations and throughout the system. Do you support wiring the subways for cell phone use?
    • Poll #1: What Do You Like LEAST About the Subway?
