| Neysa Pranger | Brooklyn | |
| J.F. Campbell | New York, NY | |
| Marcia Lemmon | Lower East Side | Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire! The MTA got caught (AGAIN) in their lies. Time for strong action including a FARE ROLLBACK and CREDIT to Straphangers for the OVERCHARGE!!! |
| JOSEPH RUSSO | BRONX | |
| Mike Lavell | Brooklyn | MTA is a big fat liar. Clean up the dirty subway stations and roll back the fare. All these damn city increases yet my paycheck stays the same. Everybody say "that aint right!" |
| Sheila Zukowsky | New YOrk, New YOrk | |
| Pablo Acosta | Brooklyn | The MTA has been screwing around with the books for years. The customers have suffered, the MTA workers have suffered and the city has suffered. It's time to make them take working for the city, serious. |
| Dianne Robbins | Manhattan | Roll back the fare increase. |
| Frank Garcia | Brooklyn | It's about time we make the MTA open all the finances to the public. We need this kind of information to be available to the public. and for the fare hike. The court should hold on to the decision of rolling back the fare because the MTA missled the public about their finances. I really thank the Straphangers organization for their continue support to the people of New York. |
| Teresa Gates | New York, NY | I'm behind you guys 200%! I'm sick of the MTA gouging my pockets with the lousey service they provide, let alone the nasty rude bus drivers we have to contend with daily..... |
| Cynthia Potter | New York | |
| Omar Branch | Manhattan | This is a note to write to roll back the fare to $1.50. This city is getting ridiculous with everything going up and with the weak economy, we cannot afford to have a fair increase!! It is getting harder and harder to run a business! |
| Mary Jean Ward | East Meadow, NY | As a LIRR customer, since the 25% fare increase, I have been on numerous trains where there have been at least two cars without lights and air conditioning. Also, just this morning, the train comes in short, with no announcements made prior to the train's arrival. As a result, several of us couldn't even board the train because it was packed. Yes, we certainly are receiving excellent service! |
| Joseph Insinga | bellmore | enough is enough |
| Rosemary Maule | merrick, ny | I support the Straphangers for petitioning the fare hike, and for having the fare rolled back to $1.50 on the subway & the 25% hike on the LIRR. |
| Meander Cheng | brooklyn | It's very unfair to the New York people to pay the higher fare. |
| Robyn Vanterpool | bklyn | Roll Back the fare. |
| Ruperto Arvelo | manhattan | Stop the fare hike! |
| Kathy Ye | New York | |
| Anna Sandler | New York, NY | Rollback the fare now!! |
| David Lazaar | Bronx | Dishonesty should not be rewarded! If they cooked the books, let them pay for it! |
| Tracey Lambert | New York City | Roll it back! |
| Karin Wolman | New York | |
| Rosa Mendez | Brooklyn | |
| Karla Simpson | New York | |
| RoseMarie Russo | Bronx, New York | It's really sad when the judge that made the ruling on reversing the transit fare raise was ignored. The MTA apparently, through many articles published recently, had "two set of books". I watched the former CEO in a televised question and answer forum this past weekend, and he answered hesitantly, ignorant to most questions asked. He acted as if he didn't have a clue to any of the questions......maybe an "rmchair general". I want the fare back to $1.50!!It's getting too expensive to live in New York! |
| Karen Rozinski | Sunnyside | The MTA has a duty to be accountable to its customers. The government has a responsibility to protect the rights of its citizens. It MUST do so! |
| Chandra Shiwsanker | Bronx | I once believed that the United States was the land of opportunities but I now see things more clearly. Like I stated in my last email, innocent hardworking people like myself are suffering because of this injustice. unfortunately I'm also right about the crime rate increasing. As we all know the banks are being robbed left and right. As a matter of fact the bank in the building where I'm employed at was robbed yesterday. The MTA needs to be held accountable for misleading the public and the fare needs to be rolled back. It's the only fair thing to do. |
| Maria Colon | New York | As a daily MTA rider I am outraged! Roll back the fares NOW! Get your greedy hands out of my pocketbook! |
| Elba Rivera | Bronx | New York is suffering financial as it is and to add another $10 per week is killing us. The services are not all that great either. |
| Rodkangyil Danjuma | Brooklyn | I will attend protests in opposition to the fare hike if planned. |
| Michael Kramer | East Village, NYC | The MTA should be forced to pay penalties in the form of reduced fares (less than the $1.50) for their misleading their customers. |
| Linda Ortiz | Deer Park | I pay a big increase between the MTA and the LIRR, which I think is totally unfair! If any kind of justice can be made to rectify this problem, I would grately appreciate it! Thank you. |
| Eileen Carey | Kew Gardens, Queens | This is an outrage, the fare should be rolled back! |
| Sally Blackman | Brooklyn | It is an outrage that the fare was raised - especially since there was no need to. With the economy and NY in the state that it is in, prices and fares should be should be kept stable. People should be able to afford to go to work and students should be able to afford to go to school. Lower fares and discounts would be more of an incentive for people to come to NY and spend money. |
| Keith Cooper | brooklyn | It`s really appalling that with the sur- plus we have to pay so much more! |
| Minjung Park | Brooklyn | It is unfortunate that decisions that affect millions of New Yorkers were based on eroneous information. If the MTA officials were concerned about making a strong case for the fare increase, this new information makes it difficult to trust that future increases will need to happen. |
| J Zeng | New York | |
| Sarah Michaels | New York | I am a very poor person and the only way I can get to work is on the train, I find it offensive that I am paying a $2 fare for a dirty train that never comes and is in the black, while I can't even put food on my table. SHAME ON THE MTA!!!! |
| Luis Andujar | bronx ny | the mta has lied to the public and its workers and they should now pay for their consequences 100 % . |
| Ramiro Veletanga | Maspeth | Roll the fare back to $1.50 |
| Jessica Robles | Bronx, NY | whose back pocket is my money going to? |
| Marc Skalias | Sunnyside | |
| Jeanne Majors | Corona | I know the city has trouble with its finances. That's nothing new but at least don't hide the money and charge the little person while the wealthy people get all the tax breaks. |
| Trina Santos | astoria | this is completely outrageous. living in NYC is getting harder everyday, a $10 increase does not help at all. MTA has deceived all of us, PLEASE rollback the fare increase! |
| Richard MacDougall | Manhattan | The MTA must stop running in secret to benefit themselves and behave like an agency accountable to the citizenry. |
| Jeanne Majors | Corona | The MTA misled the public and I think they should be accountable. Maybe the fare needed to raised anyway for revenue purposes but it shoudl have been increased by $.25 each year not a whopping $.50. The service is still lousy for $2.00 Where is all the money going? |
| Suzanne La Croix | Manhattan | Saturday night, waiting for the downtown E train at 50th Street at 1:00am, I counted 12 good sized rats running along in plain sight ON THE PLATFORM. Exterminate and I might just think $2.00 was worth it. |
| Tom Stephenson | Brooklyn | Service has been atrocious recently! Changes have not been properly marked or announced, wait times for trains has been longer, and cleanliness at an all time low. How can the MTA provide such poor service at such a high price!? |
| Marisol Nieves | Bronx | Giving the current economic situation in the city, where large groups of individuals are losing their jobs. The MTA having surplus of money wants NYC to pay more for service that has not improved, doesn't show any signs of improving should reduce the fair and give back refunds for the increase from May 4th. |
| Linda Lenoir Yurista | manhattan, tribeca | My momma always said" Life is like a box of chocolate, ya never know what ya gonna get". |
| Clayton Patterson | NYC | It is disturbing to me the dishonesty uncovered at the MTA accounting office. There should be a federal investigation into this matter. It is not possible for the city or the state to look into what very well may be accounting criminality within the MTA. No matter what, something is wrong with the book keeping. Who is wrong and why? thank you Clayton Patterson |
| RALPH MORALES | JAMAICA | TOTALLY UNFAIR FOR THE PEOPLE WHO COMMUTE TO AND FROM THEIR DESTINATIONS, MTA ARE JUST ORGANIZED CROOKS.... |
| Arnold Kim | Brooklyn | It is a shame that public officials would conceal information pertinent to the welfare of the common good. You can't really wave the flag and do this; it undermines the system. |
| Luz Delgado | Bronx, NY | No comments. |
| Holly Allen | Brooklyn | It's outrageous that the fare rates have been so drastically increased. It's a big dent in the transit-riding population's pocket that is harder to take when combined with the fact that the MTA misrepresented their financial status to the public. |
| Alina Ortega | New York | It has been proven that the fare hike is not necessary. Therefore, MTA should use the funds they are hiding to provide excellent service for riders. I also would like to suggest they clean the subway and the cars, send their Booth Attendants for staff development to learn customer service skills aswell as communication skills. It was quite ridiculous to have their personnel scream to read the signs indicating we use the Machines the first week of May if a single fare was needed. What is the purpose of thier presence if I am beng told to read a bulletin board which instructs me to use a machine. |
| Michael Muchmore | Woodside | |
| Gina Morales | Jamaica | fare hike is ludicris! the service at the [E] line jamaica/van wyck station is falling apart. leaks from the roofs when it rains. escalator's are always broken! token booth clerks are unpleasent! trains are hardly on time, too many delays! this service we get sucks |
| Ann Marie Mahoney | Brooklyn | |
| Keila Flores | Monroe, NY | I recently moved from the Bronx to Monroe and, besides having to take a bus into PA, I also take the 7 train. In a time when money is scarce the transit hike has had me considering leaving NYC as a place of employment to NJ. NY can not afford to ignore our rights or the financial climate of today. A $2 fare not only cuts deeply into our wallets it also puts to shame our loyalty. |
| Pearl Buitron | Forest Hills | |
| CHRISTIANA TRAN | NEW YORK CITY | |
| Frances Villar-Almestica | Bronx, New York | |
| Ashley Curtis | Brooklyn | |
| Brunette Kenan | Brooklyn, NY / Kings County | MTA shouldn't be able to get away with raising the fare under false pretenses. The public must be reimbursed for the amount of time that the $2 fare was paid with either a free metro card for period of time that is equivalent to extra monies spent or get discounted for same amount of time we paid higher fare. Maybe they'll stop procrastinating and have the fare rolled back asap. |
| Jacqueline Shuler | Bronx | |
| Winifred Fijnvandraat | New York | If anything, service has gotten worse in my 12 years of commuting. 86th street is a fire hazard! The MtA does poor planning. 6/3/03 |
| Ellen Carlock | NewYork | I am outraged, not only do New Yorkers have to suffer with Bloomberg's outrageous tactics but Peter Kalikow's need for gouging the public without a conscience. |
| Rikki Dee | New York | |
| Erin Nedell | Brooklyn | |
| Lisa Mainieri | Manhattan | |
| Jose Vega | Harlem, New York | I think its appalling that the MTA is trying to make money off of the overtaxed people of this city. Hasn't the economy made things tough enough on the working class? |
| Zach Overton | New York, NY | Until service is improved and MTA accounting is honestly reported, do not increase our fares! |
| Simon Spence | brooklyn | Obviously a fare increase is unfare, but not letting the public know the current status of the roll back is unfare as well. |
| Dan Goodman | Manhattan, NY | |
| RENATO RUFINO | TUCKAHOE,WESTCHESTER | I JUST THINK IT IS TOO MUCH MONEY TO COMMUTE FROM WESTCHESTER TO NYC. |
| Andrew Kupchin | Manhattan | I just don't see how the MTA can justify a fare increase when they had a tremendous surplus last year. Furthermore, the fact that they tried to hide the surplus so that those questions weren't raised by the public. |
| Lou Tally | Manhattan | Transparency and accountability are the MINIMUM requirements for a democratic republic. |
| Fernando Sanchez | Bronx | |
| ROLANDA DIXON | BKLYN NY | WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO PAY $2 DOLLARS TO TO RIDE THE TRAIN AND THE SERVICE IS TERRIBLE EXPECTLY THE C TRAIN THE SERVICE GOING HOME IS TERRIBLE |
| Jonathan Stockdill | Brooklyn, NY | Roll it Back Baby. I am too poor to pay more than the cost of a gallon in gas for a one-way fare to Manhattan. |
| Raven Snook | New York | It's ridiculous that most people in the private sector haven't had a raise in years (if they even have jobs anymore) and yet the MTA thinks we can find the money to pay hirer fares, even though the service is still awful. No way!!! |
| Robert DiGennaro | Staten Island | |
| MICHELLE DE PAOLA | BROOKLYN | |
| Robert Kahan | Briarwood | |
| Ann Greenfield | brooklyn, ny | This is our money and the TA should be accountable to the people of NYC. Please lets keep things open. |
| Nicolas Taricco | New York | I agree, and am outraged at the MTA's conduct. I am glad that the straphangers campaign is fighting for the rights of the paying public. Since it is obvious nobody else is, ie. the Mayor or the Governor. |
| Ming Tao | forest hills | |
| Susan Ritter | New York | Make the MTA produce accurate evidence to substantiatel this fare hike! We, the public are being played by their antics, especially since they got a stay on the rollback! We are the public, and we outnumber the MTA! |
| Christopher Cullen | New York | |
| Kelly Webb | Brooklyn | Unfair! |
| Blanca Vazquez | New York City | |
| Sean Gelles | New York City | |
| Brian Perri | New York | |
| Karen Lanza | New York | |
| Dolly Patterson | New York, NY | |
| NOEL CHRISTENSEN | STATEN ISLAND | ITS A SHAKE-DOWN ALL THE WAY AROUND... NO PROMISES. THERE ARE MORE PEOPLE, MORE SERVICES, MORE INCOME. ITS THE WAY ITS ALWAYS BEEN. |
| Janice Selfridge | Garrison | They're supposed to serve the public, not rob us! |
| Martha Donaldson | New York |
