In light of severe budget shortfalls, I'd far rather have a fare hike than see service or security reduced. Straphangers campaign: look at the larger picture! |

City transportation is key to the health, happiness and productiveness of our City. Workers, students, visitors, everyone uses our subways and buses to live and visit and enjoy this town. Raising the fares impinges on the everyday lives of all of us. Encourage people not to pollute the environment, crowd the streets and waste fossil fuels -- TAKE TRAINS & BUSES! |

We already pay to much! An increase in the fare would unfarily balance the MTA's budget on the backs of the riding public. The New York Times said the MTA has cost overruns of $400 million at their new headquarters. Why should we have to pay for their mismanagement of PUBLIC funds. |

Enough is enough! People have to realize that the subways are much more crowded and buses are much crowded and the service stinks. If they to raise the fare then I'm going to have to buy a car and there will be more people like me who are going to do the same and there will be more traffic during rush hour. |

A fare hike is outrageous. The rate is high as it is. Impressive improvement is needed for the price we pay now, let alone an increase. I do not agree with the fare increase. |

I might go for a fare hike if I could get advance notice of when my train is going to skip my stop because of construction, or cleaner trains, or more frequent trains at nite but I don't think that'll happen if fares are increased. So I say NO!!! to the fare hike |

If the fares was raised, what is the point of having bridges and toll booths. New York City's bridges and tollbooths are deems understandable for their fares. Thousands of commuters take the subway everyday. Maintenance supported by our tolls and bridge fares. $2.00 a ride is insane. If you can give me 100 reasons why it is necessary to raise it up, I'll think about it. Again 100 clear and understandable reasons. |

Mayor Bloomberg's fifty-five dollar parking tickets have made it too hard to get around in an already large and inconvenient city. A fare hike will go further towards driving working and middle class people out of New York - a process already well on its way. Why doesn't Bloomberg throw some of that cigarette and parking ticket tax back to the tax-paying middle class, instead of handing it all to the tax-evading rich? |

i pay enough to commute every day - standing - in a cramped, uncomfortable, often dirty and putrid train - the last thing i, and everyone in this situation needs is a fare hike. i start and end the day on the city's trains - let's not add insult to injury, PLEASE. |

I say No to fare hike, why? where are the improvements? Travel times are still the same as your last fare hike! which is no improvment. Also, crowded trains, this matter didn't get solved since I got here which is 1983! To clearly state a point, we didn't get what we wanted, instead we got confusion! Think about it, Metrocard was a good idea to attract more riders, which is excellent, but then why didn't you add more buses and subway cars? and you still are asking for more fare, that's just not fair! Oh, please give us what we want! which is no fare hike! Thank You |

The mosts irritating concept is that the MTA not only has more money now than it ever did, but they've got it all upfront with this new Metrocard system. so what's their problem? The subways are probably only more safer now than ever due to the triple ridership! The trains are packed now more than ever. Are they afraid to hire more train drivers/conductors just so as to not pay more salaries? The stations are just as dirty and smelly as they have always been! What do they need more money for, since they've got more than God! Just to outdo themselves and what they've "earned" last year? It's disgusting!!!! They've got more money now than they could ever spend in their lifetimes and their families lifetimes. |

If they are going to raise the fare they should improve the subways service and cleanliness. If they raise the fare I'm not taking the train, I rather buy a vehicle and sit on traffic, at least I'll have a guranteed seat. |

As a HHC city employee, I can't see another fair hike. It's as the paycheck I recieve I'm just giving it right back. And as always it mostly affects low-income familys because they are the one's on public transportation. |

Im totally against the train fare going up. Some people just have enough for the week now they have to make some adjustments just to have enough money to get where they have to go. Instead of $17 for a 7 day card now is $23...doesn't sound like much but it is. |

We should increase the cost of driving and parking a car in the city to encourage people not to own cars and to gain revenue. This should be a public transportation town. |

Please note that the "L" train has problems every week. Not once in while but every week there is a delay for one reason or another. The J/Z trains I beleived that skip stop system is the wost thing it could happen to a train line. Not only that slows people down because if you miss 1 train you have to wait for another 2 trains to come. Most of the times the passangers don't know if the train is making all stops or not because they don't always anounce it. Please let me know what I have to do to get that skip system cancel. Thank you in advance for your help and understanding. |
