So anyone w/some more ideas? smile
Hmmm...

110th isn't important at all. 68th/66th? What's the point? 59th makes more sense...

Trouble is East/West IRT lines have different express stops. How about this for an alignment?
I like seeing subway line on the MapQuest map.

I'd like Rand McNally's maps better. Here's one from the same area:

They could have a 116ST or a 125St shuttle (I personally think the 125St shuttle would be better because it would be on 3 out of the 4 of the express stations) that would go from 125St on the (1), go to the (A), (B), (C), and (D) on 125st, on the (2) and (3) on 125st, and finally the (4), (5), and (6) at 125st.

I don't really see a downside to this EXCEPT maybe low ridership on it.

A great idea, wouldn't it be very long and would cost too much?

Remember, folks, Staten Island is much further from Manhattan than the subway map indicates.
Did a lookup on Mapquest...seems like at it's closest point, Staten Island and Manhattan are about 4 2/3 miles apart. That would mean a shuttle all the way underwater, straight line, even going through a bit of Jersey territory. Not going to happen. A better bet is to have a shuttle going through Brooklyn...but I suppose that would mimic the R. Or, if you feel adventurous and want a shuttle built anyway...why not put a stop on Governor's Island?

Nobody likes my Brooklyn ideas? lol...they were just simple thoughts anyway that I felt like putting down.

Well seeing how long the R is and all local may I add, I think they'd be better off having the SIR run to connect to the R sorta like beneath the R platform.

The Yankee, sorry for not putting up the Brooklyn ideas. I guess I'm not too familiar w/those areas, but feel free to gather them up and list them out again smile

No. The M60 is for service to LaGuardia Airport. It just happens to run on 125th Street.

Doesn't it make stops at all the 125th St stations except for the 1/9, where it stops at 116th?

Saying that a crosstown 125th Street line isn't needed because of the M60... it's like saying we should stop service on the L west of 1st Ave because of the M14. It just isn't true. The whole point of the subway is to take traffic and congestion (even bus congestion) off the streets.

The best idea for a 125th Steet is an extension of the (T) or (Q) once the SAS is built... assuming they actually build and complete the whole project.

Lefferts Boulevard needs a shuttle. There shouldn't be two A routes, much less three.(Rockaway Park). All A trains should go from 207th to Far Rockaway. Everyone's always talking about how the A is confusing and infrequent. Why, if you just get off a late flight at JFK and take the Airtrain and miss an A barely, you have to wait 15-20 mins for the next one because on the main A line, the next train would have gone to Lefferts Boulevard, and the train after that would have gone to Far Rockaway. If all A trains went to Far Rockaway, it would be just as frequent and confusing as a normal line. Therefore, make a shuttle between Rockaway Blvd and Lefferts Blvd.

Perhaps Ocean Parkway could use a shuttle as well. Yes, I know the F train is there on McDonald and a little further away in the other direction is the B/Q over East 16th Street as well as the B68 on Coney Island Avenue...but I find it strange that such a large road has no mass transit on it except at the far southern end near Coney Island.

IMO, I think the Bx15 is the TRUE 125 Street shuttle because it is on 125 Street from end to end.

The M60 starts on West End Ave btwn 105th & 106th Sts. (I am pretty sure as I have only ridden on it once).

Yes, but it then runs up Broadway to 120th, through 120th to Amsterdam, then up Amsterdam to 125th, where it remains until it goes over the Triborough Bridge.

They have more than enough buses transversing 125th street. The last thing they need is another route. Traffic there is worst than Jamaica Avenue and Fulton Street put together.

I had a Kings Highway idea going on one of my earlier posts. It would only really work where Kings Highway is nice and wide...otherwise it would have to go underground. It's either that or a B7 Limited to go quickly through Kings Highway, plus maybe making it's part-time section of the route full-time and even then, maybe extending it.

That's exactly the reason for a crosstown shuttle on 125th.

Shuttle from Country Life Press to Nassau Hub, using the Mitchel Field Secondary tracks.

Eh? Works great in the Charles Wang Plan!

86th St would be difficult as I don't think they want to cross over Central Park. Except if what I said was true, why does the (2) and (3) "clip" the northeastern side of Central Park?

And don't forget the Q and F at the bottom of the park. At least if it's under a transverse, it's under a "road".

There cannot be a 34th Street Line because of Amtrak/LIRR/NJT.
