Problem with the 40 idea:

dadbo46 is not interested in extending more 40 buses to 241 St....

Another line that could be thrown into later hours is the 52 as it goes to the heart of MT Vernon this subway connector

Both the W52 and W55 go through the middle of Mount Vernon, and access parts of Mount Vernon that are far from the Metro-North station. Either route would benefit from service until at least midnight.

To address the porblem of no 24/7 route in Westchester, I have some ideas:
W1: Yonkers City Line-242 St
W4: Yonkers-Bedford Park
W5: Yonkers-White Plains
W6: Yonkers-White Plains
W7: Yonkers-Mount Vernon
W20: White Plains-Bedford Park (does not serve Cross County SC)
W42: New Rochelle-241 St
W60: Mamaroneck-Fordham

More to come

I generally agree Q113. However the #60 does not need to go to Mamaroneck late nights.

also missing is the #25 238th St-Yonkers line.

Another one: W40 Mount Vernon-Westchester Medical Center. Should the BL-60 late night route be New Rochelle-Fordham then?

Yes that would work. Again guys a friendly reminder. Dadbo made it clear this is only a hypothetical situation if bee line got extra money or say if the MTA took over Westchester County buses. 24/7 'owl' service in Westchester is not happening in near future.

The MTA ain't taking over the Bee-Line. They don't have any $$ either.

I pray the MTA never takes over. The bee-line is doing a fantastic job all on its own.

I know. 24/7 service in Westchester is just a pipe-dream

The W60 should run to/from New Rochelle until midnight, at least. A number of Bronx residents go to the center at New Roc City on the weekends at night.

Agreed. The people 'up high' will never come to understand that simply because Yonkers, New Rochelle and Mount Vernon lie on the other side of the New York City boundary, that doesn't necessarily mean they aren't very similar to the city, demographically and otherwise.

This time I have a more specific equipment question. Back when I worked at cross county, a few weeks ago, I'd take the 10:33 7 home, and the 60-foot would usually be pretty crowded, and when it got into Mount Vernon, it would slowly empty out.

Now that I work at The Westchester in White Plains, I take the 40 home, and the 40-foot gets just as crowded as the 7 did. Are there any other factors that would send equipment to different routes?

Same could be said on why LIB's like the N4 and N20 don't have 24/7 service. This will be saved for another thread

The trip starts at 10:10 at the transcenter, and I'll either pick it up there for a seat or right in front of the Macy's street entrance.

Welcome to the boards. So you like the fact that W60 operates every 30 minutes?

30 minute head-ways may not be the best, but I've rode on the 60 a few times, and 30 minutes seems sufficient. Even if the MTA took over, those times wouldn't change significantly.

I see that the bus stops were added on the North Bound side of Petrillo Plaza, and touch up work was being done today. Is their an opening date yet?

I'm surprised to see that there aren't any shelters or awnings on the entire block. Any reason why?

Cause it's not ready yet !

- Con Ed has not turned on the lights yet.
- Shelters should go in next week.
- Curbs and stone wall were sandblasted last week.
- Will grafitti proof wall in the spring.

I wonder how Bee-Line is dealing with the Crisis? are they as nervous as MTA? if not MTA should follow their lead.

I was on Central Ave last night, and I noticed a '4C' on the shoulder with police cars on site. About a block away from Macy's, towards Yonkers Ave. It was around 9 P.M., Any ideas on what went on?

I was on bus 501 today and noticed a new 'Stop Requested' sign, similar to those on the newer Orions. Is this feature going to be rolled out on all the Artics? Are automated stop announcement in the near future? :]
