Still, outside of a few Manhattan trunk lines hardly anyone uses the subway after 1AM.

For much of subway system that true. However i seen SRO crowded trains deep into overnight on the 'L"(at least until Lorimer) #2 and #4 in Brooklyn and Bronx, and the "E/F" on Queens Blvd as well.

And bus service overnight for the most part would be shrewd, especially on 14th street, people are lost as it is with the L train.....unless u plan to run buses every 20 minutes, that means they have to shell out more money for more operators etc

It's still cheaper to operate a bus than a train

But when you need more than a few buses to operate every few minutes to replace subway service, it'll lost its cost effectiveness.

Especially costs of labor and fuel. I know fuel prices have dropped, from the record high prices, but it still can't be that 'cheap'.

There was never a need to have the [4] running express in The Bronx.

The 4 should run express, but the express stops should be different than the current 4 express stops

Yeah, it's not like they can just rebuild the stations without massive costs or headaches to commuters. Plus not every line needs an express service.

In a perfect world it would make all stops from Woodlawn to Fordham Road. The next stop would be 161st-Yankee Stadium. It would then make all stops to 125 street.

I agree with Lex's idea...I think that would serve a good number of stations with high ridership while keeping the service efficient.

Lex Express, this sounds like a good plan.

The woodlawn am/pm express should be made permanent.

The Q line in Brooklyn, warrants it, why not Bronx?

I hope the 4 express becomes permanent, getting emptier trains into Manhattan is best for the Lex Av Lines....but not all lines need exp service.

Ive seen some videos of the <4> and is pretty fast between Burnside-149 st.

So I guess the MTA is now deciding whether it should be permnant or not.
