The 7 should have gotten the R142's back in 2000. I've said this plenty of times on here, the R62A's are GREAT on the 7. They should make them CBTC ready if it's cheaper.

As for R62A's back on the 6, I have mixed feelings on it. I used to love them on the 6 back in the day but now, I think the R142A's are the better car for the 6. I don't like the idea of robbing Peter to pay Paul, which is what this car swap would be. The 6 can rock any car class that comes it's way. I just think the possible swap is wrong but the MTA is going to do what they do and I'll live with whatever they decide to do. That's all I can do.
The R188 contract is converting R142As to have finds and CBTC installed, as well as buying extra A cars.

The R142A's are going to need some work done on them after taking a little beating on the line!

Put the R62A's on the (2)/(5) or just the (2) and leave the R142A's on the (6), The R142A's can't fit in that tunnel anyway, They did a test, The train had dints and scraches when it came out the steinway tubes, The r142's are smaller when it comes to height, The R142A's are taller than the R142's.

Work has already been done on the Steinway Tubes so that it
can handle R142/A.

R62A's won't work on the 2/5 because they swap trains in the yard and constantly at Flatbush Av. The R62A's works best on the 6 because they can change the LED signs from the circle to the diamond. They don't have anything for the numbers themselves and the roll signs would all have to be changed to be a 2 train to a 5 and vice versa.
When the 7 gets the R142A's, the 6 will be getting the R62A's back.

The 2 and 5 need their digital sinage because they often switch at Flatbush Avenue and sometimes East 180 Street. Its either the 4 or the 6. But the 4 also has R142 alongside R142A.

The 7 has to be an entirely single fleet, and since the 6 has the most R142A's, that's where the 7 will get its cars from.
Plus it would be a waste of the R62A's and the LED signs if they were sent to the 4 as the 4 has no express service like the 6 does.

I've heard rumors about this R188 order but in the end, no one knows what's going to happen with these cars. For all we know, they could wind up being their own cars. They might not even happen, especially if the finacial situation the MTA is in stays the same. Time will tell what will really happen with the R188's, R62A's and R142A's.

The economy is down now but, like life, it is cyclical. It is just one small part of why the M.T.A. reached a budget crises. Today, the R188 is speculation; Tomorrow it may be reality. While the R110A never came to fruition, the R142 and R142A did.

I believe the R110A were prototypes for the R142/A's. There was no intention to mass produce the R110A's.

be implmented on the NTT's.

I do admit the unique seating arrangement looks nice, but I think the all interior facing seats is better overall than some of the seats facing the window side.
