The L should be extended to either Chelsea Piers and/or 11 Ave & 34 St to meet the future 7 terminus. While the latter sounds curious, it would make for an interesting transfer/travel pattern study. Come to think of it, both the 7 & the L should be extended to the new NY Waterway terminal on the West Side. But to my opening statement, and if you add a lay up track in the middle, you can alleviate the current crush of trains approaching 8 Ave peak periods and thus minimize delays for the 3 key transfer stations.

I like the 8 Av-Manhattan terminus for the (L) but a future extension with the (7), I don't know...

No extension for the (L) period. Maybe a few stations could use some fixing.

They should add tail tracks (possibly a station around 10th Avenue) on the L to make turning trains easier along the line, but other than that I don't think the line needs any extensions. The Chelsea Piers extension has been discussed briefly before but there's no arguments against it. Maybe when the MTA actually isn't broke...

Agreed. At the very least tail tracks should be added past 8th Av.

Agreed, as well. The (L) doesn't need a Manhattan extension. It's got adequate transfers at Lexington, 6th, 7th, and 8th.

Exactly. At the very most at 10th Av or a station next to Chelsea Peir. There's no need for any more extensions after that.

There is one station on the L line that part is in Queens and part is in Brooklyn. Part of Wilson avenue is in Queens and Brooklyn. So if your ever at Wilson avenue you will be in two places at once. Most passengers that beat the fare are charged in Brooklyn but commit a crime on the grave yard side and you'll be charged in Queens.

The border between boroughs is odd in that area. They should 're-draw' the border so the entire L line is on the Brooklyn side and the entire grave yard is a part of Queens or something.
The current map shows the line cutting into a small portion between stations of the L line.

Perhaps the border is that way due to gerrymandering.

Possible, but I doubt it. I think those borders are more than 200 years ago, long before the voting districts were drawn.

As a lifelong resident of the area, I have learned why the border is that way. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arbitration_Rock There has always been a debate about the Bushwick and Ridgewood neighborhoods as long as I can remember.

Wilson Avenue station is totally in Brooklyn. The Queens border separates Evergreen Cemetery (Queens) and The Most Holy Trinity Cemetery (Brooklyn). Wilson Avenue station is on the latter side. See here. (from Mapquest; Google maps doesn't show county boundaries.) If you were trying to make a joke about crimes, I got it, so don't take offense.

Halsey Street station does lie between Brooklyn and Queens. And a few blocks of Wyckoff to the east are in Queens.

It could be. The B.M.T. once operated a streetcar from Rockaway Parkway to Canarsie Pier, running along Remsen Avenue for part of the route.

The L doesnt need to be extended, it needs to be extended to 10-car sets and a third track.

Third track: impossible due to high cost.
I'd rather see it run more frequently before adding 10-car sets. (Hopefully CBTC comes quickly)

the canarsie line only needs a third track from Myrtle Av to Lorimer St. Everything else stays the same.

On that note, I think the 2/5 should extend south to Kings Plaza - Flatbush Ave/Ave U.

If people weren't so narrow-minded then skip-stop would be a viable alternative.
