I know, that's why I am wondering if they will run a shuttle train downtown to Rector from I guess 14th Street, and let the 1 go to Brooklyn

I saw it last week too - it is definetely a red S - same exact color as the 1,2,3,9 trains. The announcement didn't include it as a tranfer train... A sign of something to come? Maybe with the reconstruction of the SF terminal maybe there's going to be some weird shuttle service??? Who knows.

That's what I believe, in all honesty.....maybe a Shuttle train from 14th to Rector Street, so that the 1 can serve Brooklyn

The only color I've never seen S come in is purple. But purple S can be used when the the 7 has a G.O. and is running shuttle service (eg. Flushing Main St-QBP)

I wouldn't call that a shuttle. Maybe Main Street to like 111th.

Why even take the trouble? A shuttle service is usually more permanent that a weekend GO.

As far as the ''mystery S'' goes on the L R143's...If you notice now, some of them have been taken off the maps. You can see where the sticker was however. I would have to agree, it is def 1/2/3/9 color.

The R142s weren't updated for the 2001 Manhattan Bridge changes and 63rd St openings for a while.

They probably meant the orange S for the Queensbridge shuttle, but it was printed red (a printing error)

I'm still thinking the Red S is a 7th Avenue Shuttle that may be in operation if the South Ferry station is to be closed and rebuilt to accomodate a 10-car train.

I figure that much with the shuttle train, I always felt once this whole plan with the South Ferry project, something need to serve Cortlandt and Rector Streets, right?

It would be easier to keep the 2 and 3 the way they are and have the 1 run to Rector and terminate there - afterall there is a switch track south of the station  - The red S is probably a printing error or to represent the PATH ? confused

printing error. 99% sure it was to be an orange S. The PATH would have its own symbol.
