Well are they at .500 yet?
Also will any Mets pitcher ever get a no-hitter? Or are they just cursed?

Also don't worry the Yanks will put the Mets in place lol :p - So long as Contreras doesn't start one of the games wink

If the Mets get Reyes back, and he's true to form, as well as stay healthy overall they will have a legitimate shot.

In my opinion, as a bold move they should try to trade Danny Garcia, Eric Valent, and/or Jason Phillips for a starting pitcher, and start Piazza at first base everyday.

I feel Vance Wilson is a good enough player, especially his defense to be a starting catcher. His bat isn't bad either.

If there's one thing the Mets are going to need for the stretch, it's another starting pitcher. Glavine and Trachsel are definetly getting it done, but Leiter's been on and off and they have nothing really beyond that. Ginter appears to the 5th starter, but Seo and Yates aren't getting it done.

If they are serious about doing something this year, look for them to pick up a starting pitcher.

John [even as a Yankees fan] I would've suggested trading Reyes for Soriano - then the Mets would've had a solid 2nd Baseman but well w/the Wilpons in charge they stuck w/Reyes and the Mets have to work around his injury
It'll be a godsend if he recovers from that injury shocked

I like the Mets' current approach to building their team. They are building it from within, building the team chemistry from within.

They weren't very successful with the Yankee method of stick 9 stars on the field and watch them play. They tried that for 2 years (2002, 2003), and it didn't work.

This new team is a number of aquisitions with a core built from within, along with people who are great in the clubhouse such as Todd Zeile.

I wouldn't make that trade. Simply because it goes back to the old formula that didn't work for 2 years.

Well sure Reyes would be great, but now he's a question even as a trading chip because of his injury and that will be an impediment that could come back to haunt this team - right now Soriano is still young and healthy and can easily hit 30 hr and steal 25+ bases
But then again my specialty is the Yanks, so good luck for Reyes' recovery and the Mets to winning the NL East for a change - btw you have the Yanks to thank for signing Shefield from the Braves as well as the departure of other key Braves players for the Eastern dominance to waiver burn

I never really saw Shefield as a Met basher, not even Javy Lopez. More like the Joneses.

Pat Burrell, #1 Met killer by far, with 3 Ks. Far out. laugh hula

Meet after the game? I'd love to, but I'm catching Chicago/EWF out at Jones Beach (won't even be taking the 7 train).

I never said they were Mets bashers, but they were cogs that made up the Braves now w/Maddox in Chicago, Shef on the Yanks, and Javier on the Orioles and finally Tom Glavine on the Mets – They are not the same Braves that’s for sure

The Mets are playing some decent baseball finally with a record of 23-22. Hopefully they can keep it up as they play the Phillies and Marlins this week to determine if they're for real.

I don't know if I could take another subway series. I'd hate to lose to the yankees again.

Mike Piazza's costly bad throw to 2nd which would have ended the 7th inning is proving real costly as the Mets are in trouble right now. frown

That was one mess of an inning.

Had he hit a GS in the bottom of the 8th to redeem himself, I'd probably be dead right now, but the Phillies chickened out and walked him to keep it from happening.

It looks like that 85-90 wins will probably win you the division.
