Yep and that's what I meant. MTA cops work out of these transit hubs. Transit cops work where assigned by the NYPD. Both being different outfits.

1) If the arsonist is never caught, NEVER (or we will not know whether or not it is a homeless person or an attempted act of terrorism)

2) If the arsonist is caught, they go with the NYPD line. (In this case, the person should be tried under the Patriot Act's provision for protection of mass transit systems.)

It shows that you can't even trust the homeless, so it seems.

Homeless shouldn't even be allowed to be "sleeping" on the trains and platforms the way they do. They could be terrorists or could just be doing something they shouldn't be doin. Now as far as the (C) goes....this really sux. I like 33rd Streets idea about the (B) backing up the C train. N6 Limited's idea of having the C use the Crystie St connector isn't that bad. Will the (V) be extended? Will the (E) fulfill the C's route? OR will the C be running in two directions?

That would involve pulling the B from Brighton Beach to run to Euclid. At least with the V it can run along with the F and just branch off at Jay Street. So it can run it's normal route, affecting it's normal passengers in minimal ways if any at all and go the extra mile in Brooklyn covering the C's territory. My only concern is Washington Heights. A local up there. Some of those people are going to be mad.

For local service to Washington Heights:

This might sound a bit crazy, but....you know how the A has 3 destinations heading to Queens? The B could run up to 168th street and also run up to the Bronx.Every other train will go to tbe Bronx or to 168th... I know it could cause a lot of confusion, but thats one way.
Why not have the C run from:

207th street to 59th street?
The uptown B and D would come in on the uptown local track, with the C crossin to the uptown express track? I've seen the D do this before on 59th. It terminated at 59th only to go back up to the Bronx.

How exactly will this "eff" the F?

you mean the R32s and the R38s.... well, the A will continue to use them as they do now, and perhaps the (A) service will increase, unless a shuttle train comes into play, or the (C) runs in two directions.

The most realistic option I see is the V running to Euclid Avenue. It won't affect V riders whatsoever. The concern like people have said is Washington Heights. I just don't see the A running local 24/7.

Th A can't be running local 24/7. There has to be another way (that is, if the V train thing doesn't work, which it looks like it would). It has the longest route, so I can't see it running local either.

The A has to run local in Manhattan if there is no C train, there's no way around that one.

It can, and should run express in Brooklyn however.

If the (A) is accompanied by the (V) in Brooklyn, then yes, it will run express. If the (A) ends up running local, then it BETTER be running fast, on time, and more often since it has the cars that the C is leaving behind temporarily.

OMG...do you know how the weekends will look now if this continues????

I don't know what you expect from the A, but a catastrophic event has happened, and everyone is just going to have to deal with it.

I think the TA's not handling the situation well. From what I understand the fire took out the signals related to the switch at Chambers st, right? So the switch has to be set for straight (E to WTC, A to Bway-Nassau).
Why does the A have to run limited local service?
I'd have the F and A run their regular routes. The V would be extended to Euclid ave in place of the C in Brooklyn.
The E would be the sole local on 8th ave between 50th and Chambers. I do think it's adequate.
Further north I'd divert the B to 168th. Concourse can get by with just the D, as the B only serves it rush hours anyway. Concourse express would have to be suspended. But it's still better than having an all local A running once in a blue moon.

It’s just amazing and mind-boggling how one single homeless person can cripple the system like this. shocked
