According to this article in the Daily News from yesterday (2/22), the MTA will expand its plans to install digital LED signs on trains to differentiate local and express trains. Sounds like a great idea to finally end the confusion.
I wonder if this will be the end of platform conductors cranking the rollsigns at terminals.

What does the signs and the audio announcement have to do with each other? These signs are the same red LED that shows loc/exp. BTW I thought you liked those, you seemed to care which female announcer is making the announcements.
i was riding on the 7 and i see it was the train set with the led sign and on the inside and outside of the 7 logo was a green circle and inside that circle was a diamond shape its located in front of the train near the t/o the number is 2151 and that is the only 1 in that whole train set

The LEDs are done as Redbird style. The car ends have the LEDs just above the 7 logo as "EXP" and "LCL" in red and green, respectively. Just as the Redbirds did.
BTW, reading one of the past tense in a post, the R62 LED set is still in service. This same set also has the Periwinkle seats.
