I went to a conference at 7 WTC two and a half weeks ago, and I must say the 2 was a very smooth ride: frequent, fast, and with reasonable room to sit or stand.

On the other hand, on one of the rides on the 2, there was a rat on the train...

And the 2 loves you.

Yeah, it's a good train. No complaints.

Even when there was a rat on the train, and everyone on the car had to leave, consensus opinion was, "Well, there's a train right behind this one, so it's no problem to wait."

I gotta say, the IRT knew how to run an express train. No stops from Chambers to 14th is solid. None of this IND skip one station and call it an express nonsense! I've never had any serious 2 complaints, but I usually am only riding in Manhattan.

I've found the 2 very good in Brooklyn, too, though admittedly I don't go out of Manhattan that often.

Of all the lines in the system, I ride the (2) the most. Overall, I'm more than pleased with it. With the exception of 149th/Concourse, every station is fairly well-kept, and it's defintely one of the more efficient lines.

It's easy to like the 2 in Manhattan. I'll admit it has a nice express run. However, once it enters the Bronx it turns into the IRT version of the R train. The 2 is a consistent underachiever.

I didn't even see it. Just someone said there was a rat, and some people began climbing on the bench seats.

No, it's a freaking shame. Totally unacceptable. Even systems in 3rd world countries don't have rats in subway cars. Today I came very close to a rat encounter at West 4st. I wish all of those MTA Board members in their $500 Versace suits were forced to deal with the crap I deal with everyday.

I saw a rat on the platform at 110th St on the 6. I saw one person notice it thank God it didn't get on the train.

The 2 should be a whole lot better than it is. The express run in Manhattan is the best part of the line cause it flies but when it has to be a local in Brooklyn or The Bronx, it become a whole different line, especially in the Bronx. That train becomes so slow. Not C Train slow but slow enough. In it's defense, it has a few curves that slow it down but even without them, the 2 doesn't have enough speed. More importantly, there aren't enough 2 trains running. Just another line that needs serious improvement.

Alon, in The Bronx, the (2) has a long run from E. 241st St. to Grand Concourse-E. 149th St. 99% is elevated. Along the route, the (2) runs through Unionport Yard

\:\) I admit it. I loved the redbirds with the sllver rooves, black ends and red bodies. A delight each time I saw them on the (2) (5) and (6). (2) Flatbush Aveue and (2) 241st Street looked cool on the end signs.

Just don't go past Chambers Street. This train is painfully slow and it has curves similar to the "R" line.

I kind of think of the #2 more like the "J" line with it many curves. But I can see your point about it being more like the "R" line. It is very long and drawn out. But one thing that the #2 does better is it runs within scheduled service. The "R" hardly does this well.

The "Q" is often a better alternative than the #2 in Brooklyn.

That is absolutely true. The Q does not have to deal with Harlem/Bronx crowds or delays that go on over there.
