Where are Long Island City (LIC) and Hunter's Point
exactly ? On which street are the pedestrian addresses ?

Most MTA station pages have address and maps, but
not these two:

The official address of LIC is 2nd Street and Borden Ave., but it's a huge yard, so you can't miss it.
For HPA, it's at Hunterspoint Ave. and Skillman.

I don't know the address but the Hunterspoint Avenue station is right next to the 7 station bearing the same name.

Interestingly, the Subway station is "Hunters Point Ave." while the LIRR station is "Hunterspoint Ave."

I can answer this... I used to walk to Hunters pt. sta on the '7' while I was @ DeVry....

the entrances of the subway station & the LIRR station are on the same block... matter fact, they're on the same side of the street (ON Hunters pt. ave)....

the (top of the) long stairway you take to get to the LIRR platform(s) are on an overpass... a few feet ahead of that are the set of stairs you take to get to the '7' train... there's a small place you can buy snacks/sodas & what not right before the steps....

All of this is on Hunters pt. av. in-between Skillman & 21st (east of 21st, west of skillman)....

* skillman is the street that parallels the LIRR tracks in that area

The LIC station is located on Borden Av, between 2 & 5 Sts. ( map )

Hunterspoint Av is located on 49 Av between 21 St and Skillman Av, just east of the 7's Hunters Point Av station. ( map )

The nearest subway station to LIC is Vernon-Jackson Avenue(7 train)-just walk S a couple of blocks-the station and yard is ahead. You also will walk past the entrance to the Queens-Midtown tunnel. The only train that goes E over the old Montauk branch via Penny Bridge goes to Oyster Bay at 4:54 pm. Other than that,Hunterspoint Avenue is easier to use-as was mentioned right next to the #7 line. Trains go E between 3:40 and 6:41 pm. The only exception is a 1:55 pm Montauk train that runs on Fridays only. MACTRAXX

And even sometimes, that Oyster Bay train may just skip Hunterspoint Avenue instead of going down the Lower Montauk, though I think that is rare.

Vernon Jackson (7) is just 1 1/2 blocks north of the LIRR's LIC station.

Not every train out of LIC takes on customers at LIC since not every yard track platforms there.
You have to read the timetable very carefully to see which train starts at LIC and which at Hunts Pt.
You can connect to NY Waterways or the Q103 which is extended to the LIRR LIC stop during rush hours.

Everyone: I decided to check the LIRR HPA schedule. Trains go E from LIC at: 3:24,4:28,5:30 and 5:52 that also stop at HPA as well as the forementioned OB train at 4:54 PM. All trains that serve both stations travel over the Main Line via Woodside to go to Jamaica. Only that OB 4:54 train travels via the old Montauk or lower as some refer to it to go E to Jamaica. As for morning service-trains arrive at LIC that also previously stopped at HPA at 7:34,8:07,8:44 and 9:38 AM. The only AM trip via the old Montauk branch is a train from OB that leaves Jamaica at 8:11 and arrives LIC at 8:34 am. That old or lower Montauk branch is the LIRRs hardest line to ride - only during the transit strike were there increased service for diesel trains that used it. In case anyone wonders-HPA and LIC have NO weekend service. Hope this answers all - MACTRAXX

Wha-? How you extend the Q103 if the station is only like 2 blocks away?

Thank. I too can look at the mapquest but if I
take the long walk the wrong way around the railyard,
it's a really long walk.

I read that the NY Waterway LIC to Manhattan line
shut down in 2003.

Stay tuned for a vitual race:
Flushing to Hunters Point
* 7 train vs
* LIRR (change at Woodside)

I stand corrected on the old Queens Surface web page it said just that, now on the MTA Bus web page with the scheduleing looking like any other bus schedule it does not. Since I can not show you the old Queens Surface schedule I can not prove that the Q103 was extended.

The Q103 was indeed extended to the Ferry Terminal.

The line was taken over by New York Water Taxi , and the ferry terminal is home to the Water Taxi Beach .

Google Maps now show show transit stops, and even better, show
what stops at the stops.

A quick look at Forgotten-NY shows a Hunterspoint Avenue and a Hunter's Point Neighborhood.

Chemmy - I couldn't find exactly what I was reading last week, and this link shows a different explanation: so who knows?

Hunter's Point Avenue is 49 Av, further east of the LIRR. The LIRR somehow calls the station "Hunterspoint Avenue", while the 7 next door is "Hunters Point Avenue". This variation must date from the early days of the station, as the mosaic name tablets on the 7 station read "HUNTERS POINT AVENUE" and the LIRR always called the station Hunterspoint Avenue.
