For those who don't live near Orient Point, or Montauk Point, there is a movement to make everything East of the Beginning of Peconic Bay into Peconic County. Seceeding from Suffolk County. I say encorporate Nassau County into the 6th Borough, and make Suffolk County and Peconic County what is Long Island. Nassau Seems destined to become the 6th borough. I dunno why I brought this topic up, just for some random discussion I guess.

Some parts of Glen Cove look pretty darn shady; makes some shady neighborhoods here look like safe-havens!

Nassau County becoming part of NYC??? Get real! They have to transform a whole lot of things...buses, traffic lights, etc, etc...

Besides, Nassau County is kinda suburban area.

Don't forget the fact that Nassau was once part of Queens County, or maybe it vice versa. Granted this was before NYC was incorperated, however somehow I don't think that they would want to rejoin. Besides, Nassau is mis-managed a lot more than NYC and who wants to take on that burden.

True, but can't you pretty much say the same thing about Staten Island?

I say we annex Nassau into a colony of the sovereign nation of New York City, tax them indiscriminately, and not allow them any representation in government.

Absolutely correct! I remember when I was a child and my father taking my brother and I out to see our Aunt. My mother would always ask where are you guys going and we would always answer by saying: "LONG ISLAND!"

BTW my Aunt has lived and still does live in Queens.

I've taken the N22 several times through New Cassel in the past few days since I moved. Glen Cove is in way worse shape than New Cassel!
There are plenty of other ghettos in the county, and they are just as bad if not worse than Glen Cove. Hempstead, Roosevelt, Freeport, Uniondale, Valley Stream, and Elmont look pretty damn shady. And according to police reports, gang violence is at an all time high. Guess the cops arent getting paid enough! (Nassau PD cops are among the highest paid in the nation).
Most people are quite unaware just how bad Glen Cove is. The strips along Glen Cove avenue and Sea Cliff avenue east of the LIRR tracks rival those in the South Bronx.
Man I am so glad I got outta there. That area is gonna hit the fan in a couple of years.

To support annexing Nassau (and settling their finances), we would probably have to sell all of Staten Island, the Bronx, the Rockaways, and half of Brooklyn

And aside from selling Staten Island, none of it would be worth it. :p

If Nassau joins NYC, all those for-residents parks will finally be open to the public! Who needs Nassau? Boring suburbs. And the boring suburbs of Queens east of the Cross-Island PKWY might as well be in Nassau.

Does anyone think at Yonkers or Mount Vernon should be a borough? I remember hearing a report on the news, Fox 5 to be exact, and it said that there were talks about Yonkers becoming a part of NYC.

Lets say that did happen. What will happen to the MTA? Will they move those busses to the other 4 boroughs? And what about SIR will they take the R44s with them as well since its no longer in MTA porperty since S.I decided to go to Jers.

Of all the suburban areas to make into the 6th borough, the one I always thought made the most sense (and is also the least likely to happen) was Hudson County.

I say we bomb New Jersey into submission before we annex Nassau, having an undefended flank makes for poor strategy, plus NJ sucks anyway. After we annex Nassau, obviously Suffolk will fold like Poland, pretty soon the Broadway blitzkrieg could conquer the Eastern seaboard... next stop L.A.

Staten Island voted to secede from New York City and set itself up as a new city in New York State.

It doesn't matter whether Staten Island secedes or remains in NYC, either way it will be known as a boring suburb. There were also talks a few years ago to make the Rockaways either secede, or make it a 6th borough. I agree with the latter proposal.
