Question: Do they hold the F at ditmas ave when a G is relaying at church ? It depends. If the G is going to terminate on the local tracks then the F would have to be held up at Ditmars if they want the G stop and leave Church to start it's trip back to Queens. If the G terminates on the express tracks then F trains go right into Church Av and the dispatcher or whoever, decides which train leaves church av first, the F on the local track or the G on the express track. If there is a culver express, and assuming the MTA doesnt do peak exp ( because the F/V/G would all have to run on one track in the off peak direction) but does both directions north of church then the G would most likely terminate on the local tracks along with the V.

Question: Do they hold the F at ditmas ave when a G is relaying at church ? Actually, my experience today was that the G was held and thus delayed at Church for the F. I had gotten off a n/b F at Church and saw the lights of the G-train pointing diagonally out of the mini-yard at the south of the station. Somewhere around 10-15 minutes passed by and another F trained showed up. As soon as it had cleared the station the G came rolling in, with the bell for it to leave ringing before it was even halfway in. The beauty of Church Avenue overall though is that that small yard below ground to the south keeps the through tracks (express and local) clear, thus the F or any other future service should only have to wait for the G if it's actually in the station picking up passengers. I had also gotten off at Church Avenue southbound on the G earlier in the day, and I must say... such luxuries... Elevators and restrooms! What I also found amusing is that the outside signs for the station have the G logo about 50% of the size of the F logo. I guess 50% train length gets 50% diameter logo!
