Just curious: Which bus hubs by borough would you say are served by the most and the least number of buses?
(Maybe in Manhattan bus hubs would be South Ferry and GWB Bus Station and in The Bronx would be The Hub and the subway terminals; Maybe more hubs in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island) I know the ones in Queens are: Jamaica RR Parsons-Archer 165 St Terminal Flushing-Main St Ridgewood

Does Pelham Bay Park count as a bus hub? Some routes terminate there while others only stop there. Sure it could. The term "hub" in general means {the center}/{central} of something.... Whether buses terminate at a hub or not, doesn't make it any less of one, or none at all.... I'd consider PBP as a hub, but not a major transfer point... Some people'll tell you it's the same thing... I say it's a slight difference.... ( e/g... Roosevelt Field isn't really a hub - it's more of a major xfer point... Jamaica & Flushing are Hubs...)... it's just that, Jamaica & Flushing are MUCH bigger hubs than Pelham Bay Park is....

Brooklyn: Most - Downtown Brooklyn in general Least - Rockaway Pkwy (by the L train station) The Bronx: Most - Fordham Plaza or Westchester Sq. Least - Bedford Park (around the 4 train station).. either that, or PBP... Manhattan: Most - PABT, if you're counting the NJ routes as well Least - 125th st ItselfQueens: Most - Jamaica, in general Least - Woodhaven/QB (for all those ppl. that wait there for the Qll/21/53/38 & the 29, if I remember correctly, you'd think there'd be more routes there than what it currently is.... Staten Island Most - St. George Least - Eltingville? (only 2 hubs I can think of out on SI)

Again, how do you differentiate between a hub and a transfer point? Is it the sheer number of routes, or some other intangible factor (ie what's the difference between Kew Gardens and Jamaica)? ehh, I don't think this is somethin that's that difficult to understand... think of a hub on a bicycle wheel... you notice how the spokes (and how many of them) all originate from the middle of the bicycle tire, and pan out in different directions on the opposing end of the hub.... well it's the same idea, dude.... Jamaica ( respective to the ENTIRE borough of Queens) is a bus hub b/c you have a bevy of routes panning in different directions out of Jamaica... if you ever heard the term "feeder", in regards to bus routes, bus hubs are usually synonymous w/ a feeder system.... don't know if that helps you understand or not... places like RFM are major xfer points solely b/c the Numbers of passengers that disembark there, that are looking to xfer to another bus... note, just b/c a bunch of routes all serve one spot doesn't necessarily make it a bus hub.... Most of the major xfer points in NYC doesn't solely involve buses, but bus-to-subway travel, subway-to-bus travel, and subway-to-commuter rail travel..... yes, there are intangibles... a lot of which has to do w/ the intentions of the passenger(s)...

Thank you for the replies.
When I posed this question, I was thinking of hubs served by NYCTA and MTA bus routes in the five boroughs.
In keeping with my question, the only two "hubs" I can think of in Manhattan might be South Ferry and GWB Bus Station; in The Bronx might be The Hub and maybe the subway terminals(?).
Some in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island I would consider "hubs" are Williamsburgh Bridge Bus Plaza, 165th Street Bus Terminal, Saint George, DUMBO, L.I.C. (Queens Plaza? Queensborough Plaza?), Flushing (Main Street), Jamaica (subway terminals - particularly 179th Street?), La Guardia and J.F.K.
Am I off-target in my thinking?

Well Penn Station as far as buses go have the M4, 6, 7, 10, 16, 20, 34 and Q32 buses and it's mostly train (a la 71-Continental) so I see why you wouldn't consider it a hub. Grand Central has the M1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 42, 101, 102, 103, 104, but like the aformentioned statement, it's a train hub
