Nice video. At least the Bronx portion of the El lasted 18 years after its Manhattan route was destroyed.

The 8 was not suposed to be torn down in the bronx due to the sas to be conected to that route but they did not listen and they dismantle the Rest of the route.

No, Q89LCL, the (8) never was intended to be closed permanently but the SAS never did reach The Bronx - only the three sections underway when it was left out of the capital budget in 1976 went any where.

The el structure was ageing but it handled shuttle trains of R12 cars in its' final years. I recall the booths which served as the transfer between the BX55 and the (2)(5) at East 149th Street-Third Avenue before we had Metrocard.
