Peeps in another forum have been seeing them again. Previously they were running all lines during the week (back in March-April) even HOB-WTC. They posted pix to prove it.

They were on NWK-WTC the past week people say.

I think it's just one set though.

I haven't ridden PATH in a while either.

Highest numbers I saw parked outside the Kawasaki Assembly building in Yonkers on Friday evening were 5116 and 5617.

There is a video on youtube of PA5s at Newark loading passengers. It was shot either Friday or Saturday.

The only two car #s I could see were 5600 and 5603. That's the prototype train that was delivered last Fall I do believe.

I don't have a link handy but I'm sure you can find it by going to youtube. "PA5s Newark" as keyword search might work.

The cars look very spiffy and the passengers hurrying on board look very oblivious. :>))

Just because it's at the yard doesn't mean it's in service. However, I'll still take my chances.

On the vid shot Friday on youtube there's actually a funny sequence.

The videographer is standing -- if you know Newark -- on the platform at Track 1, shooting over the turnstile area at the PA5s. As he shoots a PATH cleaning guy comes strolling along the platform. He sees the guy videoing the PATH train and immediately approaches and tries to bat him with his broom. The videographer ignores him and the cleaning guy walks away. hahaha

Mindless!

Thats a good point. There's a 2 car M2 set that has been sitting on a siding north of Stamford for a good 3 or 4 months now, I'll see if I can check the car numbers when I go by there today. E#verytime I've been past, they've still been there in the same spot, so i don't know what their doing there.

Well the last I heard the Constitution and Bill of Rights was still in effect on PATH. I know they don't like that but that's too bad.

But you're right. PANYNJ/PATH have a well-earned reputation for being difficult to deal with.

I wonder where you're getting that information?

They seem to have been in fairly regular service for several months. Railroad.net's PATH forum has a number of sightings, people who rode them plus some pix and at least one video. In March and early April they were seen in regular service mostly on weekdays.

They've been seen and ridden on all routes. JSQ-33rd, HOB-WTC and NWK-WTC. Wednesdays through Fridays seem to have have the most sightings.

Last week they were on NWK-WTC Wed June 24th and the video was shot on the afternoon of Friday June 26th as the train loaded at Newark.

Here's the link njoy-

Yeah, no offense to him, but usually he 'parrots' [meaning he repeats] information than giving them.

I get my info from experience riding on path every month and the reason I Repeat info is because I'm telling what I know.

So are they doing it this weekend? I would assume no since it's a holiday.

Did you look at the video shot last Friday afternoon?

I'm not trying to anger you or hurt your feelings Q89LCL but it's not accurate to tell people PATH only runs the PA5s on weekends at the beginning of the month. That's at odds with what people are saying who have seen, photographed them and ridden them during the week.

I used to ride PATH all the time. Right now I can't find time to get over there. The only reason I specifically mentioned this was to give people who want to see them a headsup.

Not for nuttin', but the kid who shot the video last Friday afternoon says the PA5s were running NWK-WTC this past Tuesday too.

Who knows, they might be out there right now?

Btw, peeps who ridden them say they ride MUCH quieter and smoother than the older cars.

ok so I might be wrong I never said it was accurate I was talking about back in may when I last went on path so they can change when it will run.

No one knows for sure when a second, third etc set will go in service since PATH won't tell anyone. But the rumor is the test set has still not been formally accepted. Kawasaki in Yonkers has turned out at least 30 cars so far -- I've been seeing them in the yard at Kawasaki -- but no one has seen any PA5s operating except 5601-5604 and 5101-5104 I think.
